re-inspire is an online coaching & mentoring programme for socially engaged practitioners & leaders. Re-inspire is open to cis and trans women, and non-binary people. It runs Feb 2025 to Nov 2025
what is re-inspire? Is it for me?
If you think it might be, it probably is.
RE-INSPIRE is an online coaching and mentoring programme. It will provide you with the confidence, the bravery, the energy and the tools to more forward in a more purposeful and joyful way. Cultural workers who focus on socially engaged and community arts carry huge responsibilities - both for the art and for the people. I developed RE-INSPIRE because I see you. I see your value and I see how you are valued. RE-INSPIRE is about examining how you use the resources you have (yourself, your skills, your craft) to make work, to engage with social issues, to hold space, and how you protect and inspire yourself within that.
I am a qualified coach who has been working in socially engaged and community arts for over twenty years. I bring both an objectivity as a coach, but also my expertise and experience of the performing arts industry, how it works, and how it feels to work within it. I have facilitated several forums and work-place development programmes, and produced and created numerous community arts projects, and all of this experience has gone into creating RE-INSPIRE. This is a tested programme based on INSPIRE. if you want to know a bit more about me and my values, have a noodle around my website.

FAQs
What are the sessions like?
Very relaxed. I laugh a lot. Whilst I am rigorous in my planning and thinking, I believe sessions need to be relaxed, joyful spaces where people can come as they are. Sit down, lie down, pace, breastfeed, wrangle small children, answer the door. Whilst I recommend you try to carve out this time to ensure you can give the sessions your full attention - both for yourself and your fellow cohort members - I recognise online life is not always that simple. We will all work around each other.
Can my organisation pay for me to attend?
Hells yes, send them my way.
Do you have concession / solidarity prices?
My one to one coaching is PWYL on a sliding scale, but for this programme I’m offering a low cost flat rate. I feel this is priced fairly.
But the first INSPIRE was free. Why is this one not?
I really tried, friends. The first was generously funded by ACE, Stratford East, Donmar, Derby Theatre and The Lowry. I believe coaching, mentoring, community support, should be available to everyone, but despite the incredible outcomes from the first programme I couldn’t get funding again. So I have kept this one as low cost as possible.
Can I just come to one workshop?
Not this time, this is a programme designed to take you on a journey, if you go on it I think you’ll reach somewhere joyful.
I just want coaching, not a whole programme.
You can have it! Check out my coaching page and send me an email.
If I miss a session, can I get a recording?
No. I will send you my plan, and notes for exercises for you to do at home, but when sessions are recorded it can be inhibiting / exposing for the participants attending, and during this programme people may share things quite personal to them.
I am neurodivergent and/or disabled can I join?
Of course. I would never claim to be an expert on coaching for ND people but a lot of my clients are disabled and/or neurodivergent and I do my very best to meet everyone’s access needs to make the sessions the most useful, and joyful, they can be. Please contact me to discuss your needs.
Is the course anti-racist, anti-ableist, feminist and intersectional?
Yes. At least, I hope so. I am always learning, and I might make mistakes, I hope my cohort members would hold me gracefully to account if I do. It does not set out to address these issues, however, you would need specialist trainers for that which I do not pretend to be.
Why is it women / NB people only?
Whilst it is patently obvious that men also need a space such as this one, the way that patriarchy and capitalism is enacted upon women and non-binary people is different to the way it is enacted on men, and RE-INSPIRE is a space in which that can be unspoken (or spoken) for the cohort members. The first INSPIRE was the same and in the feedback it was clear that this was very important. My practice is also feminist, and creating this space is a part of that.
But will you ever do one including men?
I dunno, maybe.
Is this just a panacea for our capitalist, neo-liberal society though?
No. This is not offering you a way to switch off from your activism, your politics, your desire to create change, it is hopefully a way to enable you to live more healthily with all of those things. We live in a capitalist society and that is hard. I don’t pretend to have all the answers as to how we do that whilst fighting it, but we can try together.
I am not sure if I am a socially engaged practitioner or leader, can I join?
If you think you are, you probably are, and I am not about to check your credentials. The reason I have tried to make it broad, but also a little focussed, is because I think having a group with shared language and struggles is useful and galvanising, and helps to create meaningful community. It is open to people of all artistic disciplines and to salaried workers in this area.

FEEDBACK ON THE original INSPIRE PROGRAMME
I've taken practical steps forward
‘I've taken practical steps forward (built a website, created a project proposal) and had the project proposal accepted. I also have a network of community arts practitioner-friends that I never had before.’
The effect of the INSPIRE programme has been immeasurable
‘The effect of the INSPIRE programme has been immeasurable. My confidence in my practice and myself as an artist has increased ten-fold across the programme. I now have actionable steps in place to move my practice forward, achieve more and extend my artistic practice to a wider community.’
The mentoring has given me tangible insight into the next stage of my career
‘I identified a way out of the difficult situation I was in and I have found a new arts job and shifted into a new work area and only feel I could manage that because of this programme. The mentoring has given me tangible insight into the next stage of my career.’
I have developed a newfound pride in what I do
‘Taking part in this programme has completely turned everything around for me. When I started, I was in a dark place. I resented my work - I felt so drained by it, and also I no longer identified as an artist of any kind. Since taking part, I have developed a newfound pride in what I do… As a result of the programme I've applied for funding myself for the first time and been successful and I'm about to begin facilitating my own project.’
I've reconnected with what I value about being in the arts industry
‘I was feeling quite stuck and thinking about retraining and leaving the arts all together out of frustration for the precariousness and the desire for financial stability. And those thoughts are still there but the framing of them is different, I feel like I’ve reconnected with what I value about being in the arts as an industry.’
It's made me remember who I am
‘It’s made me clearer, stronger and braver. It’s made me get back in touch with practices that energise and feed me. It’s made me remember who I am.’
FEEDBACK ON INDIVIDUAL COACHING SESSIONS
I really felt heard
‘Lily is such an attentive listener, so I really felt heard.’
Twelve years in the arts and nothing has ever made me feel as seen, heard and motivated as 3 coaching sessions with Lily
‘Being coached by Lily was one of the most revolutionary things I could have done for myself and my career. I have done a LOT of CPD over the years but nothing felt like a special personalised invite as a community artist to consider myself and my practice. Twelve years in the arts and nothing has ever made me feel as seen, heard and motivated as 3 coaching sessions with Lily.’
It enabled me to be brave
'The coaching sessions have given me time and space to articulate some of the blockages I have been feeling about my practice… With Lily's expert coaching in the way she posed questions or reflected back to me what I had said, it enabled me to be brave and look at what has been happening for myself and to be brave in taking steps forward. I am now taking steps to evaluate not just my practice but also how that connects with my personal and family life and have honest conversations about that. I am also feeling empowered to begin making some shifts to enable myself to develop as an artist and practitioner.’
I feel like my brain moved forwards
‘In three hours I feel like my brain moved forwards the same amount as it would take me around three years to do on my own.’
I felt energised, focussed and happy
‘Lily is patient, considered, highly skilled at drawing the answers out of me and had considered everything - I felt so relaxed going into the process as the access and communications were so clear. After each coaching session I felt energised, focused and happy.’
I really like that Lily met me where I was at in each session
‘I really like that Lily met me where I was at in each session. When I needed to process my feelings around something I was able to do that and then when I needed to have more of an action planning type conversation I was able to do that.’
