the female voice, bounce theatre, 2020

During the first year of the pandemic the brilliant Louise Pendry asked if anyone would be willing to be interviewed on the podcast Bounce Theatre were making with teenage girls. I volunteered and as a result Louise asked me to write and edit an online magazine aimed at 14-16 year olds. It was such a pleasure. I worked with and interviewed some young people over zoom, helping them to craft their articles. I also interviewed some fabulous women for ‘5 Questions in 5 Minutes’ as I wanted to showcase women who had done great things for the younger people reading to aspire to, so I found a firefighter and a counsellor, a footballer and an author (Malorie Blackman no less!) I also wrote a piece on healthy relationships based on my experience in Domestic Abuse prevention, and a piece on Finding Your Voice encouraging young women to speak up. I hope it was trans and non-binary inclusive, enjoyable to read, and empowering. It was great fun and I’d love to do more of this kind of thing. You can read it here. The Female Voice.
